Goal 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

The 2030 Agenda confirms that “there can be no sustainable development without peace, and no peace without development.” Goal 16 is a crucial part of delivering sustainable development in all countries.

Armed violence and insecurity have a destructive impact on a country’s development, affecting economic growth.  Safe stable and secure communities can be ensured through the presence of strong institutions and a commitment to peace. Promoting the rule of law and human rights are key to this process.
