Diciassette is a group founded at the University of Milan in 2018, from the initiative of five students enrolled in the LLM inSustainable Development.
The name of the group is inspired by the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals which form the basis of the 2030 Agenda.
Diciassette (Seventeen) is an expression of both the desire and the commitment to interpret and analyse the goals with a critical perspective while also making them tangible and actionable to people in their daily lives.
Thanks to the strong international component, the group has always maintained an open, inclusive and intersectional perspective on the multiple implications of sustainability and sustainable development. At the same time, being rooted in Milan and in the University, Diciassette has created a network of local partnerships with various advocacy groups in the territory which have similar goals.
Mission
Diciassette aims to create a community through sharing knowledge, perspectives and views on Sustainable Development and provide a platform to exchange ideas. The group’s ambition is to encourage the public debate on sustainability by supporting the development of informed opinions on the instruments for change.
Vision
A systemic and meaningful change in our society where responsibilities are shared and no vision of development is imposed. A future where economic growth is no more the only criteria for choice and action and the 17 SDGs are integrated. A society in which inclusive decision-making processes are non negotiable.
